Advent word: Beloved

You are neither all light nor all dark.  You are neither perfect nor entirely imperfect. You are seen. You are beloved. #beloved #kairangi #adventwords2019

Advent word: Restore

Sometimes there can be no restoration, however there can be appreciation of the new form in its own right #restore #whakahoki #adventwords2019

love

Broken pieces. A piece here and there peaced-together. A connection. A joining. Peace. You take a piece of your heart out and lay it on the table between us. I am looking at pieces of you and I see you.  If I hold your peace will you hold mine? Tenderly voices touch pillows, soundwaves, stardust, the profane and the sacred. Will you keep my piece? Whole pieces, hole pieces, we are each becoming. We are each incompl—

What will You make of me?

I must be
unmade
to be made
reduce
reuse
recycle
here I am then
broken
what will You
make of me?

Trigger warning: there’s a lot that’s demeaning and dehumanising in this – whatever your gender and sexual orientation

I poke and prod

IMAG0716

I poke and prod
prod and poke
inside and out
my blemishes and wounds
scarred recovery and discovery
of what is yet untouched.
The markers of pain are the
milestones of my journey to wholeness
it is in my breaking I am made.

All that I am

God
all that I am
anything that I am
is what you made me to be
as much as I am broken,
I am made
as much as I am fallen,
I am raised
as much as I am wounded,
I am restored
as much as I am consumed,
I am made whole
I am drawn towards You, Creator Spirit
the seasons and the cycles
of transformation that are the
source of such wonder and dread
my doing and my undoing
are in You

You are not unknown

IMG_2017.JPG

Hey God,

We’re not down, we’re not out, but we’re hurting.
This vulnerability sits like an open wound and
every new hit jars it.
We breathe through it, lean into it,
listen for what the pain has to tell us.

Lend us quiet that allows us to hear
the harmonies of the universe that let
us know, even in this, as we are, we have
a place in the order of things.

Lend us space that allows us freedom
for those things that are tight to loosen,
those thoughts and events moving quickly
time to slow so that we can look and
see them clearly.

Lend us peace that allows us grace
to tell the difference between our internal
and external insecurities – our own and
also of those around us.

There is much that is unknown,
but You are not.

We are grateful for that.

Lead us. Teach us. Send us.

Amen

this culture
grips, snips, snares you
wants a share of you
does everything it can
to make you small
I will stand tall
I see your wall
but I see too
I don’t have to go over, under, through
just be and do
as I’m called
yours is not the law I follow
yours is not the path I take
yours is not the truth I believe
shallow, fake, relieved…
I will go on
