Lent word: Live

I’m spending some time in the garden for the first time in ages. It requires being present. It requires paying attention. Many things have gone to seed. Some are already sprouting away on their own. This is the cycle of life: the dying and the living. #live #ora

Lent word: Haere

Today’s word is haere… go. But I stay right here although my heart is with my family, my brain bandwidth follows live news announcements, and my gut says going out less now is when it will matter most. Leunig’s Fear and Love play over in my mind.  Every choice connects to capacity and the two ways to respond. I choose love. Let me always choose love. #haere #go

I hope this is a time to slow down and pay attention. I hope this is a time to discover. I hope this is a time for re-membering the interconnectedness between us and all things. #awaken #oho

Today we savour and celebrate playing in the park, tree climbing, sunshine and flowers… we see a couple have written their love in the branches that hold us up. May we be carried by one another’s love every day. #celebrate #whakahari

Sent but not delivered. Here but not arrived. The message isn’t getting through… neither is the toilet paper. #Sent #tonoamai

We go for a walk and there is spaciousness to listen, walk, and talk of fear and, deliberately, other sacred ordinary things… #listen #whakarongo

Lent word: See

Check this out: the latest in corona fashion… “way to go Yellow…” #stillsmiling #see #kite

Lent word: Light

The sun still shines for you, and the moon rises
The ground is firm beneath your feet and the sky is high above you
The trees stand tall and the rain still falls
May your spirit rise and stretch
May your spirit stand firm
May your spirit be grounded and drink deeply from all that is yet constant

Is it getting harder for you to find things to celebrate? Not me. This is the time when the crema of being human rises – rich and strong. We remember we need each other to survive. People are reaching out to their neighbours, sharing what they have, sharing small graces. I hope this pandemic changes everything and the new world order is a kinder, more considerate and generous place. Where’s the party at when we beat this?
